BCS National Championship Game

Hey everyone!

Sorry it’s taken so long! Mr. Tan Lines and I have A LOT going on and have been super busy! I’ll share our news when the time is right :)

So when we left off it was time for the big game! We arrived in Pasadena early Monday morning and ate breakfast at a local place that was delicious!  We then headed over to the Rose Bowl! The weather was perfect, around 78 degrees and sunny, however we knew it was going to get colder in the evening so jeans and a long sleeved shirt it was!

We paid for tickets to the special Auburn tailgate that included food, alcohol and videos replaying highlights from the season. The feeling in the air was pure excitement!

There was just a massive sea of blue and orange, it was wonderful!

Our seats in the stadium were fantastic; we could not thank Mr. Tan Lines parents enough! The game was exciting and memorable, it was a truly once in a lifetime feeling. However we really hope we get to go again!!

Perhaps next time when we go we can come home with a W! The game concluded our adventure out west and we headed home the following day. It was a perfect vacation with my new family and one that I will never forget!

Las Vegas and California!

Happy Thursday everyone!! As some of you may know Thursdays are known as “Throwback Thursday” or #tbt so because I still have access to them I thought I would share some pictures from my childhood Enjoy! :) The first one is from my favorite Christmas present, the Barbie Dream Boat! The second is from a trip to the Baltimore Aquarium with my family!

As I mentioned yesterday today’s post is pretty freaking awesome. So it was 2014 and we were thrilled that Auburn was heading to the BCS National Championship game to take on the Florida State Seminoles.  Mr. Tan Lines and I were lucky enough to get tickets to the game along with Mr. Tan Lines' parents! We were so excited for this opportunity! We were looking forward to the warm California sunshine and excitement surrounding the game, especially because the temperature in Virginia was in the negative digits! We also decided to stop in Las Vegas for a night, I had never been, and explore! The best part was that while we were away there was a snowstorm in Virginia which thankfully we got to miss!

Here are three pretty cool pictures! One is of the Rockies as we flew over and the other is when we flew over the Grand Canyon!

We did A LOT in Las Vegas, considering we were only there 1 day. We walked all the way up and down the strip, Mr. Tan Lines and I ate some really delicious pizza. We went to the Coyote Ugly Saloon located in the New York, New York Casino which was so fun! My only disappointment was that they didn’t serve wine! Can you believe it?? Yes, I know that in the movie they don’t serve wine either but they had a very large assortment of liquor and beer (not like in the movie) so I figured it was only right that they had wine!

We also of course did some gambling! We went to New York, New York and I learned how to play Roulette and actually did pretty good! I think in total I only lost $10! However Mr. Tan Lines was able to gain all that back! We played black jack and I hit the slots as well. The first picture is of the very first dollar I spent and the second is of the last dollar I spent!

We watched the water fountain show at the Bellagio that was fantastic too! It was a super trip and we sure can’t wait to go back in a few years!

After that our next stop was Pasadena! We rented a car and made the 4 hour drive west! We arrived Saturday afternoon and were exhausted, Mr. Tan Lines and I had dinner with my aunt and cousins who live in Los Angeles then called it a night! Sunday was a day full of fun and sightseeing! We headed to Venice Beach first and got to put our toes in the Pacific Ocean! I couldn’t believe there were people swimming in the water in January!

Our next stop was the infamous Santa Monica Pier! We got to ride the roller coaster and even checked out Muscle Beach! We ate lunch at a delicious seafood restaurant that had amazing clam chowder.

Sunday evening we drove into downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood. We drove down Rodeo Drive and I got to see the Avenue of the Stars! Here is me putting my hands on Marilyn Monroe’s star :)

And here I am with the cast of Twilight, the Harry Potter gang and a little Sweet Home Alabama love :)

It was such a great day filled with so much fun! We also did something that some of you may be very jealous of, we ate dinner at In n Out Burger! It was very good but definitely not our favorite! Now we can really say that we’ve “been” to the west coast though!!

Next stop? The BCS National Championship game!

Christmas and NYE!

And then it was Christmas time!! Happy Hump Day everyone!! A few weeks after NYC Christmas was upon us! We had a very low key celebration and it was perfect! We were so excited to shower Miss Lily with gifts :)

Pooped after playing with her bone all day!

We spent Christmas Eve with my family and we played our annual dirty Santa game, look at the great apron I ended up with!!

For new years we decided to head (sort of) out of town to stay with some friends! We went to Annapolis, MD where our friends live and went to a local bar. It was by far the best new years that I’ve ever had! We danced and laughed then came home and released some wish lanterns :) it was a perfect way to start off 2014. Here is pic of me and Roxie and then of Mr. Tan Lines and I releasing our wish lantern!

Tomorrow’s post is going to be a good one so don’t forget to stop by and check me out :) Here is a sneak peak!

War Eagle & NYC!

Happy Tuesday!

So the wedding fun had died down but our football season was just getting exciting! As you know Mr. Tan Lines attended Auburn University in southern Alabama so naturally I became a huge fan as well! We even bought Miss Lily an Auburn sweater, isn’t it the cutest thing?! We anxiously watched two of the most exciting games at home and boy they sure didn’t let us down!! With just seconds to go Auburn took down Georgia with the play now known as “the prayer in Jordan Hare.” And just a few weeks later Auburn took down the #1 ranked team and defending BCS champs Alabama in what can arguably be called the most exciting ending to a game ever. EVER. With just ONE SECOND to go Auburn returned a kick and ran it back for 109 yards scoring a game winning touchdown. I get chills just thinking about it! Our neighbors 2 houses down said they could hear our screams of excitement! In Auburn there is a tradition to “roll” the trees after a big win. So we took to our front yard and threw around some toilet paper rolls. We made sure to be extra loud so that our Crimson Tide loving neighbor could hear our excitement :)

Remember a few months back when I wrote about going to New York? Well the time had come! It was early December and Mr. Tan Lines and I made our way north to the big apple. We had a fabulous stay! It was cold cold cold but it was beautiful! It snowed the entire day Saturday that made for beautiful scenery. We were also in town during the Heisman Trophy presentation so we got to check out the BCS bus!

We did a little bit of everything, we got to see the Christmas tree and Rockefeller Center. We went to the Top of The Rock at sunset which was beautiful! We had sushi on Friday night, because duh that’s our thing!

We also went to the September 11th Memorial which was quite emotional but beautiful. Freedom Tower was not open yet but we hope to go back sometime so we can explore that too!

We had dinner at City Lobster (remember Luti and I went there back in 2009!) which was so good! Steaks, clam chowder and a nice bottle of wine. Perfect evening!!
